IWISH

Intelligent Workflow optimization and Intuitive System interaction in Healthcare

About the project

Modern operating rooms and interventional labs face intense pressure due to multidisciplinary complexity, information overload, and heavy administrative burdens.

Unpredictable delays, manual scheduling, and inaccurate procedure duration estimates leave expensive medical facilities underutilized while overburdening healthcare staff.

To solve these challenges, the IWISH project focuses on AI-driven workflow optimization to increase efficiency, predictability, and safety across clinical procedures.

The project integrates real-time procedure tracking, synthetic data generation, and mathematical scheduling tools.

By automatically monitoring intraoperative progress through sensors and computer vision, IWISH feeds live status updates into hospital planning systems.

This enables clinical teams to dynamically adjust schedules, shorten changeover times, and minimize administrative overhead.

Ultimately, IWISH helps optimize resource usage and allows medical personnel to spend more time on direct patient care.

Goal

The main goal of IWISH is to optimize hospital workflows using artificial intelligence.

It aims to streamline complex procedures in operating rooms and interventional labs.

By providing real-time tracking and automated scheduling, the project reduces delays, lowers costs, and improves patient care.

Our contribution

Almende will develop intuitive, self-organizing software solutions for clinical workflow optimization and clinical decision support.

We will build prototype interactive control tower dashboards, combining patient information with planning tools for coordinating hospital staff.

Our team will also leverage our long-standing expertise to ensure end-user needs are properly integrated into the project’s hospital workflow solutions.

Results

The IWISH project delivers real-time procedure tracking tools, AI-based duration prediction engines, and dynamic scheduling software.

By automating workflow monitoring, it achieves a 36% increase in procedures finishing on time.

Additionally, it provides a scalable synthetic data platform that accelerates access to healthcare training data while maintaining full privacy compliance.

Recognized for digital innovation

The IWISH project has been nominated for the Computable Award in the Digital Innovation category.

This nomination underscores the project’s impact in applying cutting-edge artificial intelligence to solve complex healthcare challenges.

It highlights our consortium’s role in advancing smart technology to make operating rooms more efficient and scalable.
