About the assignment

You’ll play a twofold role: creating eye-catching designs and leading the use of open source design tools like GIMP (alternative for Photoshop), Inkscape (alternative for Illustrator), and Scribus (alternative for InDesign).

Your design projects will include:

  • Developing a coherent style guide for Almende’s visual identity
  • Designing images and graphics for our websites and social media channels (mostly LinkedIn and Mastodon)
  • Crafting layouts for ebooks, whitepapers, and presentations

A key part of your role is exploring how open source tools can replace Adobe’s suite effectively, finding ways to produce professional results while embracing our open tech values.

About you

  • You’re studying graphic design or a related field and passionate about ethical technology
  • Experience or eagerness to learn open source tools like GIMP, Inkscape, or Scribus
  • A creative eye and ability to translate complex ideas into engaging visuals
  • Independent, proactive work attitude with a collaborative mindset
  • Availability for 3 to 6 months, approximately 32-40 hours a week
