Currently, monitoring these conditions requires frequent doctor visits for invasive procedures like blood draws and cuff-based blood pressure tests.
These intermittent measurements delay treatment adjustments, fail to capture daily lifestyle impacts, and miss early warning signs.
Additionally, existing digital health platforms often struggle with data sovereignty, user privacy, and secure data sharing.
The Bio-curity project solves these challenges by creating an integrated, secure ecosystem for non-invasive, continuous digital biomarkers.
Using advanced wearable and optical sensors, Bio-curity continuously measures real-time health data, such as blood pressure variability, physical activity, and microvascular health, directly from the home environment.
By processing data locally through privacy-preserving edge AI and self-sovereign identity principles, the system delivers personalized, actionable medical insights to patients and clinicians without exposing sensitive personal health records.
Almende will act as the national coordinator for the Dutch consortium and serve as chief integrator for the edge components.
We will lead the development of a smartphone-based trusted health data hub. This tool collects, analyzes, and shares continuous biomarker data from home sensors in a secure, privacy-preserving manner.
Additionally, we bring our expertise in data science and artificial intelligence to support the deployment of AI models directly to edge devices. Through these efforts, we empower patients and practitioners with data-driven insights for personalized care.

By enabling continuous, non-invasive tracking of digital biomarkers at home, the project aims to improve metabolic syndrome screening by 10% while reducing healthcare working hours by 5% through optimized, data-driven care delivery.
