About the project

Bipolar disorder affects millions of people globally, yet current healthcare relies heavily on reactive care, treating symptoms only after a severe episode occurs.

This delayed intervention jeopardizes patient well-being, places immense emotional strain on caregivers, and creates substantial costs from frequent hospitalizations.

Existing digital health apps often lack comprehensive data sources, struggle with patient privacy, or fail to tailor insights to individual needs, limiting their clinical usefulness.

The ADMIRED project addresses these challenges by developing an integrated, continuous health monitoring and prediction platform.

The system combines wearable and non-wearable sensors to collect multi-source health data, secure edge computing devices, and AI predictive models tailored to each patient’s unique profile.

By anticipating depressive or manic relapses in advance, ADMIRED sends timely alerts and action protocols to patients, caregivers, and medical staff.

This proactive approach helps prevent crises, reduces hospitalizations, and improves quality of life.

Goal

The primary goal of ADMIRED is to transform bipolar disorder care from reactive treatment to proactive prevention.
The project uses wearable sensors and personalized AI to predict relapses in advance. This warns patients and clinicians early, reducing hospitalizations and improving lives.

Our contribution

Almende will provide the end-user digital mental health platform to support treatment delivery, patient monitoring, and data collection.

We will facilitate seamless communication between patients, caregivers, and clinicians. Additionally, we will contribute to the development of AI services for user context detection and profiling.

Our focus ensures that our software activities follow security standards to protect personal health information.

Through these efforts, we help deliver smart, data-driven tools for mental health professionals.

Expected results

The ADMIRED project will deliver a validated eHealth platform featuring AI-driven predictive models, wearable health recording systems, and secure edge computing devices.

By providing web and mobile applications for patients, caregivers, and clinicians, the project aims to reduce bipolar disorder hospitalizations by 50% while improving overall quality of life by 40%.
