About the project

RESILIAGE explores community resilience as a key resource in disaster risk management.

Recent natural and man-made disasters highlight the need for a better understanding of human behavior during crises.

Traditional disaster preparedness often lacks reliable data on how diverse groups react in emergencies.

This missing information directly limits the effectiveness of first responders, technical systems, and public policy.

To address this challenge, RESILIAGE aims to improve our understanding of citizen reactions before, during, and after a crisis.

The project combines social insights, local knowledge, and cultural heritage to make communities safer and more prepared.

By actively involving citizens, first responders, and local authorities, RESILIAGE develops digital tools, communication guidelines, and training packages to support emergency planning and response.

Goal

RESILIAGE aims to build safer, more resilient communities. It improves risk awareness and enhances emergency response across diverse society groups.
By using local knowledge and cultural heritage as active drivers, the project helps people better prepare for and recover from disasters.

Our contribution

Almende will build key digital tools within the project’s digital platform.

We will model human response to disasters using social network simulations. This helps us analyze how information and rumors spread online and offline during a crisis.

We will also develop a decision support system to share best practices and help local authorities shape emergency plans.

Finally, we will create an open digital network. This online space allows communities and research labs to exchange knowledge and collaborate directly.

Results

RESILIAGE will deliver a complete resource platform filled with validated digital tools, communication guidelines, and training modules. These outcomes will strengthen local emergency plans and boost community preparedness. By empowering citizens and first responders, the project ensures faster recovery and longer-term resilience across Europe.
